Chief Executive Officer
David Kimball is Chief Executive Officer of Prosper Marketplace. He joined the company in March 2016 and brings more than 20 years of financial experience.
Prior to joining Prosper Marketplace, David served as Senior Financial Officer of USAA’s Chief Operating Office, where he oversaw USAA’s real estate unit, bank, P&C and life insurance companies, investment management company, and the call centers/distribution functions. During time at USAA, he also served as USAA’s corporate treasurer and held several senior positions across several finance functions including capital markets, treasury, accounting, and FP&A.
Prior to USAA, David spent ten years at Ford Motor Company and Ford Motor Credit Company in both the U.S. and U.K., working on their securitization programs, debt issuance, and a variety of FP&A positions.
David has an M.B.A and B.A. from Brigham Young University.
Chief Financial Officer
As CFO of Prosper Marketplace, Usama oversees the company’s finance and capital markets functions.
Usama has almost 20 years of experience spanning corporate finance and global capital markets, including funding, securitization, financial reporting, accounting, planning, investor relations, balance sheet management, strategy, and mergers and acquisitions. He has held senior leadership positions at prominent financial services companies, most recently as Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer at Annaly Capital Management and Corporate Treasurer at USAA.
Prior to joining USAA, Usama spent 13 years in the Treasury and Corporate M&A departments of CIT Group, most recently serving as Deputy Treasurer with responsibility for the firm’s Treasury activities in the U.S. Previously, he worked in the Investment Banking Division of Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup focused on M&A.
Usama received a BS in Economics with concentrations in Finance and Accounting from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Chief Technology Officer
Nasos Topakas is the Chief Technology Officer of Prosper Marketplace where he is responsible for the company’s technology vision and strategy, as well as overseeing the technology departments, including product, engineering and user experience .
Nasos joined the company in April 2017 and brings over 10 years of experience as a CTO and more than 25 years leading software engineering, product, UX and operations to drive successful product delivery and increase operational efficiency. He has worked in diverse technology sectors, including e-commerce, mobile, financial platforms, imaging/photography, software/hardware products, and telecommunications, and has implemented software platforms powering global web sites, consumer products, mobile applications and custom systems.
Nasos received a BS in Computer Science from San Francisco State University.
Chief Risk Officer
Brad Pennington is the Chief Risk Officer at Prosper Marketplace. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing all of the elements of the loan product, including pricing, underwriting strategy, credit policy, verification strategy, loss-forecasting, model development, model governance and new risk product development.
Brad joined Prosper in 2012 and was instrumental to the development of Prosper’s rating systems, automated strategies and cutting edge monitoring systems. He has held roles with an increasingly broad set of responsibilities during his tenure with Prosper and he brings more than 10 years of experience in risk management and applied analysis.
Prior to joining Prosper, Brad was a Credit Risk consultant with Moody’s Analytics where he worked with large global and U.S. clients focusing on Economic Capital, Basel Compliance and PD, LGD and EAD model development. He began his risk career designing the automated underwriting and pricing strategies at First Equity Card; a small-business credit card specialty finance start-up.
Brad obtained his B.S in Economics from the Wharton Undergraduate School where he completed a self-directed course of study, obtaining minors in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics and Operations Research.
General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer
As General Counsel of Prosper, Sachin oversees all of Prosper’s legal and regulatory affairs.
Prior to joining Prosper, Sachin served as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of GreenPoint Mortgage Funding, which was then the mortgage lending arm of Capital One Financial Corporation. Before that, he served as Vice President and General Counsel of Valley Media, a music and video distributor. Sachin also practiced for a number of years with the San Francisco law firm of Howard, Rice, Nemerovski, Canady, Falk & Rabkin.
Sachin earned his J.D. from UCLA, where he served as an Editor of the UCLA Law Review. He also holds an M.A. in English Literature from the University of California at Berkeley and a B.A., cum laude, in English Literature from Georgetown University.
Executive Vice President, Marketing
Justine Metz is the Executive Vice President of Marketing at Prosper Marketplace. In this role, Justine is responsible for the company’s growth strategy and oversees all marketing and partnership channels.
Justine has more than 25 years of marketing experience and joins Prosper from SRS Acquiom, a financial firm that specializes with M&A transactions. Prior to that, she served as Head of Global Wealth and Investment Management Marketing and Sales Support at Bank of America, where she was responsible for driving growth, profitability and loyalty for Bank of America’s Wealth Management business, Merrill Lynch and US Trust. She has also held senior positions at Fidelity Investments, Morgan Stanley and GE Capital (GEFA).
Justine received a B.S. in Marketing from Georgetown University, the McDonough School of Business.
Executive Vice President, Operations
Kunal Kaul is Executive Vice President of Operations at Prosper Marketplace. In this role, he is responsible for developing all aspects of operations, including verification, collections, business operations and customer service.
Prior to joining Prosper Marketplace, Kunal spent more than 13 years at Capital One. Kunal has more than 7 years experience in personal unsecured loans across the entire value chain, including acquisition of new customers, credit policy, underwriting, pricing, valuations and loss mitigation (collections, recoveries, fraud). In his most recent role at Capital One as Leader of Home Loans Originations Operations Excellence, Kunal led the company’s efforts to deliver best-in-industry Customer Experience, while doubling associate productivity and significantly improving quality.
Kunal has a MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore, India) and a degree in Chemical Engineering from Bombay University. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and daughter.
