Chief Executive Officer
Aaron Vermut is CEO of Prosper Marketplace, one of the fastest-growing online marketplaces for consumer credit in the U.S. Aaron is also the President and a Director of Prosper Funding LLC. Before joining Prosper in early 2013, Aaron was Managing Director, Co-head of Prime Services at Wells Fargo Prime Services, LLC (formerly Merlin Securities, LLC) along with Stephan Vermut. He was a founder and Managing Partner at Merlin Securities, as well as on the Board of Directors and chairman of Merlin Canada Ltd. until its acquisition by Wells Fargo Securities in 2012. Prior to Merlin Securities, Aaron held roles as a Principal at New Enterprise Associates, and as a Senior Consultant at Cambridge Technology Partners.
Aaron has an M.B.A. in Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in History and German Literature from Washington University in St. Louis. Aaron lives in San Francisco with his wife and four children.
Stephan Vermut is Executive Chairman of Prosper Marketplace. In this role, Steve works closely with the company’s CEO and management team on the strategic direction of the business, as well as advises on day-to-day operations.
Previously, he was a founder and managing partner of Merlin Securities, a prime brokerage service that used technology to allow for a customized approach to managing investment portfolios. Merlin Securities, which was backed by Sequoia Capital, was acquired by Wells Fargo in 2012. Following the acquisition, Steve joined Wells Fargo as Managing Director and Co-Head of Wells Fargo Prime Services.
Before Merlin Securities, Steve founded Montgomery Prime Brokerage, which later became Bank of America Prime Brokerage and was acquired by BNP Paribas. Prior to Merlin Securities, he spent ten years as a Partner and Managing Director at Furman Selz in New York in the Prime Brokerage Division, part of the UBS Prime Brokerage platform. Earlier in his career, he was an institutional salesman at L.F. Rothschild & Co. and a securities analyst at Delafield and Delafield.
Steven received a B.S. in Finance from Babson College, and serves on a number of boards.
As President of Prosper Marketplace, Ron is responsible for developing and executing the business development strategy to attract borrowers to the site, as well as ensure a balance between institutional and retail investors on the Prosper platform. He brings more than 20 years experience in sales, marketing and business development across the hedge fund, broker dealer and registered investment advisor industries.
Before joining Prosper, Ron was Managing Director at Wells Fargo Securities.
Prior to Wells Fargo, Ron served as the Head of Global Sales and Marketing and Senior Partner for Merlin Securities. Ron also served as President of Spectrum Global Fund Administration, and spent 14 years at Bear Stearns where he served as Senior Managing Director and Manager of Global Clearing Sales.
Ron earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
Chief Operating Officer and Chief Risk Officer
Josh Tonderys is Chief Operating Officer and Chief Risk Officer at Prosper Marketplace, which operates the largest privately held online marketplace for credit. As CRO, Josh oversees all aspects of risk management for Prosper, including the company’s proprietary credit-rating model and the evolution of Prosper’s loan servicing. In addition, as COO, Josh is responsible for helping to manage the day-to-day operations of Prosper’s business, including overseeing the corporate development team and the customer experience for both borrowers and investors on the Prosper platform. Since joining Prosper in 2013, Josh has been instrumental in the company’s success, building the credit, risk and pricing models that have allowed the company to grow loans on the Platform to more than $3 billion in total.
Prior to Prosper Marketplace, Josh worked at Barclaycard US where he was responsible for the Open Market business, the largest portfolio segment with1.2 million customers and assets of over $2.5 billion. In this role, he oversaw strategy, analytics, and growth initiatives for the Barclaycard branded credit card portfolio. While at Barclaycard, Josh was also the Head of Acquisitions and Portfolio Risk, where he was responsible for setting analytical credit risk strategies for Acquisitions and Portfolio Risk Management, as well as Head of Collections Strategy. Prior to Barclaycard, Josh held various credit risk roles at BankOne, now Chase Card Services.
Josh earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a B.A. in Economics from Hobart College.
Chief Finance Officer
David Kimball is Chief Finance Officer of Prosper Marketplace. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax and fund accounting.
David brings over 20 years of financial services experience to Prosper. Previously, David served as Senior Financial Officer of USAA’s Chief Operating Office, where he oversaw USAA’s real estate unit, bank, P&C and life insurance companies, investment management company, and the call centers/distribution functions. During time at USAA, he also served as USAA’s corporate treasurer and held several senior positions across several finance functions including capital markets, treasury, accounting, and FP&A.
Prior to USAA, David spent ten years at Ford Motor Company and Ford Motor Credit Company in both the U.S. and U.K., working on their securitization programs, debt issuance, and a variety of FP&A positions.
David has an M.B.A and B.A from Brigham Young University.
General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer
As General Counsel of Prosper, Sachin oversees all of Prosper’s legal and regulatory affairs.
Prior to joining Prosper, Sachin served as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of GreenPoint Mortgage Funding, which was then the mortgage lending arm of Capital One Financial Corporation. Before that, he served as Vice President and General Counsel of Valley Media, a music and video distributor. Sachin also practiced for a number of years with the San Francisco law firm of Howard, Rice, Nemerovski, Canady, Falk & Rabkin.
Sachin earned his J.D. from UCLA, where he served as an Editor of the UCLA Law Review. He also holds an M.A. in English Literature from the University of California at Berkeley and a B.A., cum laude, in English Literature from Georgetown University.
Chief Product Officer
As Chief Product Officer at Prosper Marketplace, Parker Barrile oversees the product and user experience teams and is responsible for managing the company’s expanding product suite for borrowers and investors across web and mobile platforms.
Prior to Prosper Marketplace, Parker was vice president of product management at LinkedIn where he led teams for several of the company’s core monetization products including Talent Solutions, Premium Subscriptions and the Payments Platform. During his five years at LinkedIn, Parker was instrumental in building consumer and enterprise products that today generate more than $1 billion in annual revenue. Prior to LinkedIn, Parker founded and served as the CEO of Predictify, a community-based prediction platform where members could make and vote on predictions regarding current events. He has also held roles at Google and Bain & Company.
Parker holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.
Chief Business Officer
Itzik Cohen is Chief Business Officer at Prosper Marketplace, a leading online marketplace for consumer credit. In this role, Itzik is responsible for growing all aspects of the business through strategic partnerships, sales and corporate development. He also oversees Prosper Marketplace’s new lines of business, including elective medical and home improvement, and plays a key role in the company’s corporate strategy.
Prior to joining Prosper, Itzik was CEO and founder of ClipSync, a leading interactive video platform that partnered with some of the biggest media companies in the world. Before founding ClipSync, Itzik was a part of the executive team at WebEx Communications, the Web Meeting Applications company. At WebEx he led all strategic business partnerships and corporate development, and helped drive the success that led to a successful IPO and eventually being acquired by Cisco Systems.
Prior to his professional career, Itzik was a professional basketball player in the Euroleague playing for Maccabi Tel-Aviv, a 5 time EuroLeague champion. Itzik also served in the Israeli Air Force and received B.S from Tel Aviv University.
Chief Marketing Officer
As Chief Marketing Officer of Prosper Marketplace, Cheryl oversees all branding, customer acquisition and corporate communications. Cheryl brings more than 20 years of management and marketing experience, and has worked extensively with both traditional and digital brands.
Prior to Prosper, Cheryl was CMO at UniversityNow, a social impact venture aiming to provide affordable and accessible quality higher education to people everywhere. Prior to UniversityNow, Cheryl spent 13 years at travel site Hotwire, including eight years as CMO. She was part of the small team that launched the Hotwire brand, and ultimately built it into a Top 5 online travel agency. Before Hotwire, Cheryl was at Procter & Gamble, where she focused on consumer insights and segmentation for some of the company’s well-known brands such as Crest, Folgers, and Pantene.
Cheryl earned a B.A. in Economics from Vanderbilt University.
Executive Vice President, Human Resources
As Executive Vice President of Human Resources, Dawn oversees all aspects of Human Resources for Prosper Marketplace, including the strategy for talent growth and development and cultivation of the company’s culture.
Dawn brings 20 years of experience in Human Resources. Prior to joining Prosper, she was Vice President of Business Planning and Operations for Talent Acquisition at Yahoo where she was responsible for driving execution and improving organizational agility to recruit top, transformative talent to Yahoo. Before Yahoo, she was VP of Human Resources at RPX Corporation, the industry leader in patent risk management, developing the HR function from the ground up and partnering with the executive team to develop best-in-class, high performers that collaborated on achieving business objectives. Earlier in her career, she worked for a number of companies to build their HR function, including Linden Lab, the online virtual world known as Second Life.
Dawn earned a BA in Psychology from Sonoma State University.
Executive Vice President, Capital Markets
Eric Thaller is Executive Vice President of Capital Markets at Prosper Marketplace. In this role, he is responsible for growing Prosper’s funding base and overseeing the experience for all Prosper’s investors. He is also responsible for developing new offerings that aim to increase access and distribution of Prosper loan products.
Eric brings more than 15 years experience in the investment management business to Prosper. Prior to joining Prosper, he was Director of Risk Management at Adelante Capital Management. Previously, he was Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Charles Schwab Investment Management where he was responsible for the firm’s first proprietary international equity fund and served on the Investment Policy Committee. Eric was also a Partner at Standard Pacific Capital where he managed a quantitatively driven hedge fund.
Eric has an M.B.A. in Finance and Statistics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A in Economics, Magna Cum Laude, from University of California, San Diego. He also completed The General Course at the London School of Economics.
Executive Vice President, Operations
Kunal Kaul is Executive Vice President of Operations at Prosper Marketplace. In this role, he is responsible for developing all aspects of operations, including verification, collections, business operations and customer service.
Prior to joining Prosper Marketplace, Kunal spent more than 13 years at Capital One. Kunal has more than 7 years experience in personal unsecured loans across the entire value chain, including acquisition of new customers, credit policy, underwriting, pricing, valuations and loss mitigation (collections, recoveries, fraud). In his most recent role at Capital One as Leader of Home Loans Originations Operations Excellence, Kunal led the company’s efforts to deliver best-in-industry Customer Experience, while doubling associate productivity and significantly improving quality.
Kunal has a MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore, India) and a degree in Chemical Engineering from Bombay University. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and daughter.
