Become a Prosper expert in three easy steps

1. Learn more about Prosper

  • Visit Prosper's help pages, tutorials and read the discussion forums
  • Look at other listings and group pages and ask yourself, "If I had $50 to lend, who would I lend it to?"
  • What factors helped you make your decision?
  • Use those reasons to teach your group members how to create great listings

2. Review historical interest rates on funded loans

  • The rates page displays historical interest rates on funded loans
  • Get to know this chart well, follow trends in interest rates, and help your borrowers choose appropriate starting interest rates for their listings
  • Keep in mind that successful listings often start at a higher than ideal interest rate and are bid down by excited lenders

3. Teach your borrowers the TIPS method for great listings every time

  • Tell your story. Try to quantify how you'll be using the loan by listing expenses one by one. Don't over-dramatize your situation and be honest about your plans for your loan. Add additional contact information only if you feel comfortable doing so.
  • Include a budget. The more complete your budget is, the more confidence lenders will have in your ability to manage your finances.
  • Pictures can make your story come to life. Use as many as you can.
  • Stick to the facts – give lenders confidence in yourself by offering statements of fact instead of hopes and aspirations.
