Why is my listing under review?

Listings which have ended with 100% funding from lenders go into a status called "pending review", in which the listing is reviewed by Prosper's Trust and Safety team. During this process, which will last no longer than 7 days, Prosper requests further verification of the identity, address, bank account, employment, and income of a select number of borrowers.

If your listing ended recently, you should be contacted by Prosper within one business day, either requesting further documentation or notifying you that your loan has been created.

How long will it take to review my listing?

Prosper reviews all faxed documents received prior to 3 PM Pacific Time the same business day. If all of the requested documents are provided, your listing can be approved within that day. If any documents are missing or unclear, you will be contacted as soon as possible with specific instructions.

What kind of documentation do I have to provide to Prosper?

If your listing is held for review, you will receive an email from Prosper with specific instructions about the documents needed. The specific documents requested are different from borrower to borrower, so make sure you pay special attention to the documents requested in the email.

Follow the instructions in Prosper's email closely, and be sure to include a fax cover sheet, which can be found on the "My Account > Overview" page. If you do not use the printable fax cover sheet, it may delay the review of your listing. An email confirmation will be sent to you indicating that Prosper has received your fax.

What are Prosper's income verification requirements?

Borrowers who state that they can provided documented proof of their income are required to provide such proof before their listing will be funded. At this time, the only acceptable proof of income for working borrowers is a recent pay stub and Form W-2. For retired borrowers, the only acceptable proof of income is a Social Security benefits letter or Form SSA-1099.

What if I don't receive an email confirmation of my fax?

If you did not receive an email confirmation and you did not use the Prosper fax cover sheet when sending your documents you must resend your documents with the Prosper fax cover sheet, which can be found on the "My Account > Overview" page.

If you did include the Prosper fax cover sheet and did not receive an email please first check your email spam filter and deleted items. If the email is not there it is most likely that we did not receive your fax. Please resend the fax and be certain to include the Prosper fax cover sheet.

What other review steps are taken?

Prosper may call your bank to verify that you are the owner of your bank account on file. In some cases, your bank may require you to be on the line while your account is verified, so you may receive a call from a Prosper customer support agent requesting that you conference call your bank for bank account ownership verification.

Prosper may also call your employer to verify the details of your employment and your income.

What if I don't send documentation?

If Prosper does not receive the requested documents within 2 days, your listing will be cancelled, no loan will be created, and you may not be allowed to create a new listing.

What happens when the listing is approved?

Once Prosper has received sufficient documentation to approve your loan, the review process ends, and the origination date for your loan is set.

Typically, the origination date for your loan will be one business day after the loan is approved, to allow funds to be deposited in your bank account on file. Learn more about loan origination.

What if my listing is cancelled?

If your listing is cancelled for any reason during the listing review process you may not be allowed to re-list on Prosper. This may seem harsh but it's important to understand the process from the lenders' point of view. It's simply unfair to ask dozens (sometimes hundreds) of lenders to keep their money tied up when they could have bid on another listing with a more responsive borrower.

Therefore, it is crucial that you be as responsive as possible during the listing review process.
