Your password
If you forget your password, go to the forgotten password page to verify your identity by answering a few questions. Prosper will send you instructions for resetting your password using the email address you have on file for your member account.
Note: Your current password will remain active until you create a new one.

Managing your bank accounts
You can manage your bank accounts on your bank accounts page.

Managing your profile
When you initially registered with Prosper, you supplied some basic information, such as your name, email, and password. This is referred to as your “profile.” If any of your personal or contact information changes, you can update and edit your profile.

However, you cannot change your name or Social Security number. We take your privacy and security very seriously, and this restriction exists to protect the identity of all our members.

What is address verification?
For security reasons, all borrowers must have a verified mailing address, which helps Prosper reduce the risk of identity theft.
Prosper uses several methods to verify your address, including sending you a small postcard with a verification a. This is not an email; it is a paper postcard sent through the U.S. Postal Service to the address you entered when you registered.
If you receive a postcard in the mail, go to “My Account > Settings” and click “Verify this address.” You will be prompted to enter the verification a printed on the postcard you received. Once you have successfully entered the verification a, you may destroy and discard your postcard.

Managing your messages
You can view and change your account preferences by going to “My Account > Settings.” Go to your settings now.

Some messages from Prosper cannot be turned off, typically for security or legal reasons.
There are some messages (for example, “Legal Agreement changes”), which require your receipt while on the Prosper site, but not necessarily via email. If you see a check mark (Check) on the “Edit Communication Preferences” page in the “On-site message” column, you are required to receive that notification as an on-site message.

Account Features

Messages on Prosper
Messages operate like your email inbox on Prosper. Your Prosper Messages inbox is where you will receive secure, relevant messages directly from Prosper and other Prosper members. Prosper account messages will come directly to your Messages inbox, although communication with Prosper customer service may occur through the personal email address that you entered upon registration.

By communicating with you through on-site messages, Prosper can ensure that the messages you receive are not fake emails (spoof), spam, or “phishing” scams. Furthermore, it ensures the delivery of important account-related messages to you.

Since messages from other members are sent through the site’s messaging system, Prosper can ensure any transaction-related messages are successfully delivered to you and are not susceptible to your ISP or email spam filters.

What is a member page?
Your member page is created automatically for you and you can edit it to tell the Prosper community about yourself. If you want to add to it or make changes, just go to “Edit your member page“.

The Prosper Refer a Friend Program

What is the Refer a Friend Program
Prosper’s Refer a Friend program was established to encourage our members to bring their friends, family and colleagues to Prosper to become active borrowers. In return, Prosper pays cash rewards to referrers*.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Sign in to your Prosper account and go to the Refer a Friend page.
  2. Enter your friend’s information, customize the message if you wish, and send the invitation to your friend.
  3. If your friend joins Prosper within 30 days of clicking on the link in your invitation andgets a loan within 90 days of joining Prosper as a borrower, you will be eligible to receive a cash reward ($100).*
  4. As soon as your friend’s first monthly payment clears, you will receive an email with your Visa gift card redemption a and the link to redeem it. Once you have redeemed the a, your $100 Visa gift card will be mailed to you within 2 – 3 weeks.*

In order to earn the referral rewards, you have to invite someone who has never joined Prosper in the past, and they must use the invitation link you sent to join. If your invitee does not use the link, Prosper will not be able to track that they were invited. Also, they must register as a borrower within 30 days of clicking on the link, and obtain a loan within 90 days of joining Prosper.

Receiving payment for referrals
You will only receive a referral award – deposited directly into your Prosper account – after your friend receives a Prosper loan and has successfully made their first monthly payment.*

  • Your friend must get a funded loan and make the first monthly payment successfully. You will receive your award in your Prosper account as soon as the first monthly payment clears.

To qualify for referral awards, the following conditions must be met:

  • The invitee must have clicked on a link from your invitation with a referral a.
  • The invitee’s Web browser must accept cookies.
  • The invitee must be a new member, and must join Prosper within 30 days of clicking on your link.
  • The invitee must borrow money within 90 days of joining Prosper.
  • He or she must make the first monthly payment successfully.
  • You can only earn one borrower award per new referred member.

Checking the status of a referral
When a friend or colleague you have referred joins Prosper, you will receive an email notifying you. Keep in mind that you won’t receive any awards until a loan has been taken and a payment made.*

You can also view your referrals by going to the “My Account > History” page, choosing “Event type: Referred New Member” and “Date range: All time”, and clicking “Apply filter”. This will show all of the members who used your link to sign up with Prosper. These are the members a referral credit is available for, as long as the other requirements are met.

You’ll receive another email notifying you when the referral award has been paid. Please note, referral awards cannot be given for referrals that did not use a Prosper referral link.

The Affiliate Program

What is the affiliate program?
Prosper’s affiliate program was established to encourage online publishers or website owners to promote Prosper to their user base while earning commissions.

There’s no cost to participate and it’s as easy as putting a banner or text ad on your website. You can earn commissions by sending us borrowers or lenders/investors.

Friends on Prosper

How do I connect with friends?
Prosper allows members to connect with each other and form a network of connections. People that are connected to you on Prosper are called your “friends.” You can see your friends on the “Connections > People” page.

Each time you put up a new loan listing, your friends will be notified. If they invest in your loan, their investment will show up on your listing page in a section titled “Winning investments from Family and Friends.” You can also invite people who are not yet members of Prosper to invest in your loan.

If you want to have some of your own friends on Prosper, invite friends now. To add existing Prosper members to your list of friends, you will need to ask them by email invitation —you cannot add a Prosper member as a friend after finding them on the site.

You can also encourage your friends to invest in your listing. Investment from family and friends may provide credibility to your listing. Friends and family who invest in your Prosper loan are then allowed to recommend you, the borrower. Borrower listings with investment and recommendations from friends may have a greater chance of getting funded.

If you have an active listing, you can request investments from family and friends on “My Account.”
