Changes to Borrower Credit Reports

When you create a listing on the Prosper website, Prosper Funding LLC (“Prosper”), its parent company, Prosper Marketplace, Inc. (“PMI”), or their respective agents will contact Experian, our credit reporting partner, and retrieve your credit score and report. If your most recent credit pull is more than 30 days old, Prosper, PMI or their respective agents will pull a fresh credit score and report from Experian.

It is Prosper's policy to never change or correct data retrieved from Experian's credit reporting service. If you are a borrower who has a dispute about your credit score or credit report data, you must resolve it with Experian before it will appear on your Prosper credit profile.

Below are some common discrepancies found in borrower credit grades and credit report data:

  • If your credit score seems incorrect, keep in mind that there are many different credit scoring models in use. Prosper uses Experian Scorex PLUSSM model, while Experian's consumer website uses the Experian PLUS™ model. There is a chance that your credit score from Experian's website may be different than the credit grade you receive on Prosper.
  • If the number of current delinquencies on your credit report seems incorrect, keep in mind that Prosper’s "Now delinquent" line item includes unpaid charge-offs or other derogatory balances. This may result in a higher number of current delinquencies than is listed on other credit reports which do not take into account charged-off delinquencies.
  • If you have a dispute about one of the line items on your credit report, you should contact Experian to resolve it. Prosper will never alter credit data which has been retrieved from Experian's credit reporting service. Experian's web site is at www.experian.com.
