What is Prosper?
Prosper, America's largest people-to-people lending marketplace, connects people who
need to borrow money with people who have money to lend.
Connecting people-to-people eliminates the need for borrowers to go through a bank
for a loan—and fewer middlemen means lenders also benefit.
How does it work?
- Borrowers create a loan listing and set the interest rate they are willing to pay.
- As a lender, you can view important details about the borrower's credit history
and set the rate of return you wish to receive.
- You can handpick the loans you want to bid on, or use portfolio plans
to automate the process. By making small bids as low as $50 per loan,
you diversify and lower risk.
- Watch your cash balance grow each month as borrowers pay back their loan.
All loans are made by WebBank, a Utah-chartered Industrial Bank and sold to winning bidders registered as lenders with Prosper. Prosper "lenders" are loan purchasers.
