Answer Questions from Lenders

Why am I getting questions from lenders?

Your listing has a section called "Questions & Answers", from which lenders can ask you a question about your listing. Don't worry—it's a good thing. You may have left an important detail out of your listing, and lenders are just being thorough.

Where can I see my questions?

Go to "My Account > Borrowing", and if you have any unanswered questions, they'll appear in the "Latest Listing" box on the right.

How do I answer questions?

Go to "My Account > Borrowing", and click on the number of unanswered questions. You will also receive an email every time a new question is asked, and you can click directly from that email to the page where you can answer it.

If you choose to answer a lender's question, please do not include information which might expose your identity. Exposing your identity to a lender may put the lender in a legally precarious situation, and should be avoided at all costs.

When you answer the lender's question, the answer will go directly to the lender via email. Additionally, you have the option to post the question on your listing for all lenders to read. Unless you are revealing something in your answer that should remain private between you and the lender, you should post as many answers as possible on your listing; this will prevent you from having to answer the same question too many times.

Do I have to answer these questions?

No. You can choose not to answer any question from a lender; just click "Delete", or ignore it altogether. Keep in mind, though, that a lender is probably asking you a question because he or she is interested in bidding on your listing. So neglecting the lender's question might cost you a bid.

If you delete a lender's question, you will not be able to get it back, and the lender will not find out that you have deleted it.

Can I turn off the email that tells me I have questions?

Yes. Just go to "My Account > Preferences", and change the settings on the "Listing questions" message.
