How can I change my account preferences?

You can view and change your account preferences by going to "My Account > Preferences". Go to your preferences now.

Why can't I turn off certain messages?

You might receive some messages from Prosper which you cannot turn off, or may only turn off the message that goes to your email inbox. There are some messages which you are required to receive as a member of Prosper, typically for security or legal reasons. For example, if you are a borrower who is late on a payment, you are required to receive the message notifying you that you are late.

There are also some kinds of messages (like "Legal agreement changes"), which require you to receive a message on-site, but not necessarily via email. In this case, you'll see a check mark icon (

) on the "Edit Communication Preferences" page in the "On-site message" column, indicating that you are required to receive that notification as an on-site message.

Why are the member-to-member message preferences set up differently?

In order to reply to a message from another Prosper member (through Prosper's on-site messaging system), you must be able to see that message in your on-site messages list. As a result, if you accept messages from any Prosper members, you will receive those messages by default in your on-site messages inbox.

To receive notification of messages from other members in your email inbox, check the "Email me when a member contacts me on Prosper" checkbox.

What are blocked groups and members?

When you block a group or member, you are preventing your standing orders from bidding on any listings from that group or member. You may override a blocked group or member by bidding on that group or member's listing with a manual bid (clicking the "Bid now" button on the listing page).

Also note that when you block a group or member, listings from that group or member are filtered out of your advanced search results.
