What are "friends" on Prosper?Like other social networking sites, Prosper allows members to connect with each other and form a network of friends. We call people that are connected to you on Prosper your "friends". You can see your friends on the "My Account > Friends" page. If you want have some of your own friends onto Prosper, invite friends now. Can I make money bringing my friends to Prosper?Yes, actually. Prosper's referral program will pay you for bringing new borrowers and lenders to the site. You will get paid $50 when a new borrower takes a loan, and $25 when a new lender makes a loan. What are endorsements?An endorsement is a way for one of your friends to give credibility to your profile, primarily to improve your chances of getting your listing funded. Imagine being a lender who only had $50 to bid: all other things being equal, would you rather bid on a listing where the borrower's friends and family had all left strong endorsements for the borrower's character, or a listing with no commentary or evidence of real relationships at all? As a borrower, you can enlist your friends to give your listing some credibility and hopefully improve your chances of getting funded. An endorsement is a character reference for the borrower on the part of the borrower's friends and family. An endorsement is not a guarantee or promise of payment and does not obligate the endorser on the loan. How do I get some friends on Prosper?Just go to "My Account > Friends" and click Invite more friends. If your friends accept your invitation and you have an active listing, they will be prompted to write you an endorsement. Your friends will have to become registered members of Prosper before they will appear as a friend or before their endorsement will appear on your member page. How do I get some endorsements?Just invite your friends to Prosper, and they will be prompted to write you an endorsement. Your friends will have to become registered members of Prosper before their endorsement will appear with your listing. When you invite friends and family to connect with you on Prosper, you will benefit from their endorsement, and they will be kept up to date on the status of your listings and loans. People who endorse you are never obligated to make payments on your loans. Where can I see a list of my Prosper friends?Just go to "My Account > Friends", where you can see a list of your friends. Your friends can also be seen on your member page, under the "Friends" tab. Where can I see my Prosper endorsements?Just go to "My Account > Friends" and click on "Endorsements received", where you can see a list of the endorsements you have received from your friends. You can also see the endorsements you have given to your friends on the "Endorsements given" page. Can I add existing Prosper members to my list of friends?You can only add friends by inviting them to Prosper by email address. At this time, you cannot simply add a Prosper member because you found them on the site. Invite friends to Prosper now. Can I remove a friend from my list of friends?You can only remove a friend if neither of you has an active listing or loan on Prosper. To remove a friend, go to "My Account > Friends" and click "Remove" next to the friend that you would like to remove. Once you've removed a friend, you can only re-connect by sending another invitation to that friend via email. Can I delete an endorsement that I have received?Yes. Just go to the endorsements received page and click "Delete" next to the endorsement that you would like to delete. Once you've deleted an endorsement, you can't get it back, although your friend can always write you a new one. |
